An advice notice has been received from York Regional Police (YRP) to warn seniors and other York Region residents of an increased occurrence of the "Grandparent Scam".

The object of the scammers is to get your money into their pocket. You want to keep your money in your pocket.
Do not let your emotions get in the way. No matter how dire the circumstance may seem to be, always question these "cold" calls. Never be forced into a situation involving your money that cannot be verified.
